America does not love Soccer.
As a nation we have never embraced the sport. For over twenty years I have been hearing that the United States was on "the cusp" of getting into soccer. It simply is not happening and I believe never will.
Soccer is played a large amount by young children in America. It is fun and healthy way for them to get exercise and run around.

If you had a 6-3 football game, a 1-0 baseball game and a 64-60 basketball game they would likely be considered "boring games". Since Soccer is played a large amount by young children in America. It is fun and healthy way for them to get exercise and run around.
As they get older it is less about soccer and more about football and baseball. Many of our best athletes, who may have made the World Cup ended in ties. Ties in American sports are horrible. No clear winner, no clear loser. What a travesty. What an injustice. How can we decide if we want to laud or ridicule our team. A tie! Shudder. A tie is like kissing your cousin. You get something out of it, yet it seems sick and wrong also. All that being said, things are getting there. Perhaps one day there will be real "futbol" in America to go along with football.
